La Chaux-de-Fonds
The prototype
La Chaux-de-Fonds has been chosen to test the idea of a cultural capital in a pilot edition in accordance with the criteria of the Swiss Cultural Capital Association.
The City of La Chaux-de-Fonds and the Canton of Neuchâtel evaluated this project through a study by the HES-SO. The conclusions of this report encouraged the submission of an application that met the Association's requirements.
An attractive city
La Chaux-de-Fonds shines with its cultural offerings, such as the Théâtre populaire romand, the annual Festival de La Plage des Six Pompes, the Club44 and numerous renowned museums.
La Chaux-de-Fonds also has a very active alternative scene and cultural niches.
The city has been awarded the UNESCO World Heritage label twice and can also count on the support of strong cultural and economic partners.
