Every project needs to be organised

Each Capital of Culture organises itself independently. Depending on the phase of the project.

In the case of La Chaux-de-Fonds, for example, as follows:

  • As a candidate, a project team of two to three people relies on a patronage committee, which has the political and strategic leadership. Together they examine the feasibility and ensure political and financial support.
  • As soon as the label is awarded, an organising committee is set up with experienced people who can take on all the tasks. Similar to other major events, this includes the following areas: Programme, marketing, communication, finances, operations, infrastructure, legal issues.
  • Each area is organised into sub-areas. A steering committee composed of all stakeholders, including a representative of the Swiss Capital of Culture Association, oversees the organisation and continues to provide support in strategic, political and financial matters. It also ensures the transfer of knowledge to the next Capital of Culture.
