A programme of Cultural Capitals is finally taking place in Switzerland. Long championed by a handful of people, the idea has now been recognised by the Swiss Confederation, and preparations are well under way in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the town chosen to host the first edition in 2027.

As the second part of a triptych devoted to the foundations of such an initiative, this article proposes to flesh out the pithy formulas used in communications documents and to present the project of Association Swiss Capital of Culture, from its origins to the paths it has recently taken.
