On Saturday, 14.05.2022 we celebrated together with the participants the 20 years of Expo.02 and 20 years of Das Zelt. 

We had the opportunity to present the idea of the Swiss Capital of Culture and the project to the guests present from politics, business, culture and the former Expo.02.

At the anniversary celebration, the next Swiss National Exhibition took centre stage: Ambassador Dr. Eric Jakob, Head of the Directorate for Location Promotion, presented the Federal Council's position, and delegations from all five current National Exhibition projects presented their ideas. In addition to speeches by representatives from politics, business and Expo.02, a look back at the Expo.02 era was also taken with film and photo presentations.

Expo.02 - the first Swiss national exhibition of the new millennium. 39 exhibitions and over 13,500 events made the Three Lakes Region the cultural centre of Switzerland for 159 days. From 15 May to 20 October 2002, 10.3 million people visited the four Arteplages on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Biel and Lake Murten and took part in this great celebration, this unforgettable event, which was made possible not least thanks to the tireless efforts of thousands of people.

Das Zelt was one of the Expo.02 sites and is today the only Expo.02 project still in existence. The mobile event platform is visited by an average of 120'000 to 150'000 people per year.
