Swiss Capital of Culture 2030: Aarau, Bellinzona, Lugano, Schaffhausen, Thun and Zug declare their intentions

Aarau, Schaffhausen, Thun and Zug from German-speaking Switzerland and Bellinzona and Lugano (with Locarno and Mendrisio) from Italian-speaking Switzerland have declared their interest in applying for the title of «Swiss Capital of Culture 2030». They submitted their letter of intent at the end of March. This confirms their intention to submit an official application for 2030 by the end of this year. Other cities are no longer authorised to do so. Daniel Rossellat, President of the Swiss Capital of Culture Association (KHS), is delighted: «The interest shown by the six or eight cities not only increases the likelihood that we will have a diverse selection for a Capital of Culture 2030, but also shows that the concept of the Swiss Capital of Culture has gained a foothold throughout the country.»
