We are a national association
The independent national association Swiss Capital of Culture (CCS) was founded in 2013. It is chaired by Daniel Rossellat, Mayor of Nyon, and has 23 members.
What we do
The task of the association is to ensure the sustainability of the project and compliance with the concept.
The association accompanies the cities' bids for the title of « Swiss Capital of Culture » and supports the jury.
The jury: our panel of experts
The jury is made up of 11 experts from the fields of culture, business and media. It examines and awards the title of « Swiss Capital of Culture ».

The association is financially supported by the contributions of its members, the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) and the Mobiliar Jubilee Foundation.
The projet Swiss Capital of Culture
The Swiss Capital of Culture project aims to promote cultural diversity, enhance artistic and cultural creativity and strengthen national cohesion in Switzerland in the long term. Every three years, a city or region is awarded the title of « Swiss Capital of Culture ». The project aims to enable the Swiss population to participate in cultural life by promoting cultural creation and exchange.
2027 will take place the first Swiss Capital of Culture in La Chaux-de-Fonds
The city of La Chaux-de-Fonds will be Switzerland's very first Capital of Culture in 2027. Artists, cultural practitioners, residents and visitors from all over Switzerland will have the opportunity to experience a rich, multidisciplinary cultural programme.
